Fujifilm Digital Cameras

Read unbiased reviews of Fuji digital cameras from hundreds of users, plus ratings, advice and prices to help you pick the right digital camera for you.

Fujifilm's focus is film and medical imaging, but they have a consumer digital camera division as well. Most of their cameras are low-cost compacts that don't perform particularly well. However, cameras with their proprietary EXR sensor are known for strong low-light performance, and their high-end superzooms are well-respected. The latter two categories are worth a look from enthusiast photographers looking to pay extra for a performance-compact.

Being one of the innovators of the compact camera, Fujifilm is one of the leading photographic and imaging companies in the world. Fujifilm is generally given credit for launching the first real digital camera in 1988, the DS-1P. Fujifilm digital cameras are now loaded with a vast selection of features to choose from, the most notable of which is their Super CCD technology. First debuting in the hugely popular Fujifilm FinePix F30, these sensors offer fantastic performance in the categories of low-light and dynamic range, generally outperforming the competition.

Important Attributes

Fujifilm digital cameras are famous for their natural image color, wide dynamic range, low noise and high sensitivity. One of the more popular models, the Fujifilm FinePix F800EXR, boasts a Super CCD sensor and offers a host of features designed for the camera enthusiast. Boasting manual modes, image stabilization, RAW capture, WiFi connectivity, a 20x optical zoom and a large half-inch 16 megapixel sensor, Fujifilm is plainly aiming at the high-end compact camera market. If you can get past the somewhat steep learning curve you will be rewarded with a camera which boasts image quality which is one of the finest you can find with a compact zoom camera.

Fujifilm has also recently joined the retro camera craze, manufacturing more expensive models like the X100, XPro-1, X-E1 and cheaper XF1 that have the analog look but offer compelling performance under the hood. For the enthusiast that wants to not only take fantastic pictures, but look fantastic while doing so, these cameras are perfect.

The Fujifilm XP series is a great place to look if you're in the market for a waterproof camera that won't break your budget. The XP170 is the highest-end waterproof camera the company makes, and it includes wireless, but you can now find good deals on the cheaper XP50 as well. With a 5x optical zoom and waterproofing to 16 feet, this camera will go just about anywhere you do. Image quality isn't as good as more expensive offerings from other manufacturers, but it gets the job done.
